it seems that i have regained the capacity of dreaming after spending three days doing little besides studying math. it has been a while since ive had a dream as vivid as the one just now. im wondering what triggered this. it could of be because ive been laying off lamb’s bread for a while, but then again it could be because i spent the last month drinking beer, or maybe because i started jujitsu. i wish i knew.

after some careful observation and thorough scrutiny of the dynamics of female attraction towards men i have reached the following conclusion: woman are attracted towards men as flies are attracted towards excrement. i.e. the more of an anus a guy is, the more attention he gets from the opposite sex. i am one hundred percent positive that this is true. even to an extent at which many women have caught themselves thinking about this and realized that they would be far better off taking a swim in the sewers, than they are sustaining their relationship with an asshole.

tere is a…
an a area of the mind
which could be called the unsane, beyond sanity

unsane, beyond sanity, and yet not insane

think of a circle with a fine slpit in it,
one that is insanity
you go around the circle to sanity,
and on the other hand of the circle close to insanity
but not insanity,
is unsanity.

If you keep looking for acceptance, but always in the wrong crowd.

And if the truth you speak is never reflected,

yet still, the listeners want more.

How can you know when to leave them,

and understand that you have failed?

Im not sure whether this is true or not, but i think the ads in Spotify dont work. I havent heard any so far at least. perhaps its because they only start after some minimum amount of total played time. can anyone confirm this?

At the place where i currently work there is live music every wednesday and sometimes on saturdays. The guys who played there last time performed a song by Sting called englisman in new york. I liked both the sound and the lyrics so i decided to give Sting a go. Prior to this ive just regarded him as a pop artists and ignored his music because its more or less impossible to avoid completely anyhow – meaning sooner or later ill be forced to listen to his stuff on the radio or whatever. It turns out the guy is not not so bad at all, although im not into his style of rock. Furthermore i discovered that he’s also a former member of the band Police, and i do like many of their songs as well.

In europe and america, theres a growing feeling of hysteria
Conditioned to respond to all the threats
In the rhetorical speeches of the soviets
Mr. krushchev said we will bury you
I dont subscribe to this point of view
It would be such an ignorant thing to do
If the russians love their children too

How can I save my little boy from oppenheimers deadly toy
There is no monopoly in common sense
On either side of the political fence
We share the same biology
Regardless of ideology
Believe me when I say to you
I hope the russians love their children too

There is no historical precedent
To put the words in the mouth of the president
Theres no such thing as a winnable war
Its a lie that we dont believe anymore
Mr. reagan says we will protect you
I dont subscribe to this point of view
Believe me when I say to you
I hope the russians love their children too

We share the same biology
Regardless of ideology
What might save us, me, and you
Is that the russians love their children too

spotify is shit imho. the ads are a pain and the voices they use recently are driving me mad. i quit watching tv a few years ago because of this. i can dig perfectly pronounced british, but the people who speak in those interruptive messages are hand picked by some psychologist with a sole agenda – irate the listener and make him buy the 99 NOK subscription. 99X12 is 1188 and $183, which is not too bad. nonetheless, im not buyng it. one, their selection of artists is too slim for my taste. two, they use shitty formats which cant be played without logging in to the spotify app. three, its difficult to discover new music through the app.

last.fm on the other hand, is teh shit tbh. the two services are quite different, and should perhaps not be compared directly. there are some technical differences. like for instance, you cant chose a specific song to play with last, and you cant forward or rewind. in fact, all you can do is pick a station and skip tracks if you dont like them. regardless, last.fm is all about discovering new music. whenever you chose some criteria for desired content (artist, album, tag, genre) you dont get exactly what you type in (you do with tags and genres), but instead things that are similar. The selection of similar artists is based on your own and others’ listening habits and ratings. I dont know how, but they do it pretty well at last.fm. I feel the music instantly when i hit some tag or genre in the web-interface or the client app. whereas the stuff they play in spotify is just shit. the subscription fee is $3/month or $36 a year and the benefits are – you get your own radio station. there are different channels within the station and they are
your library: stuff you played before (last.fm records all your properly tagged tracks)
your neigbourhood: stuff played by people who have similar taste in music as you
your playlists: hell yeah you can actually make lists and play whatever you like (with restrictions)
your loved songs: stuff youve marked with a pathetic red heart
recommendations: this is what im talking about
andsomefewmore: options

… to sum up:
instead of listening to popular and boring music on spotify (interruptions included!) that you get on the radio anyway, you can get a last.fm account and get recommendations based on your taste. in fact, spotify is not all that bad because you can scrobble (*) songs to last.fm from it.

* The Last.fm Scrobbler (also called “the client”) is a desktop application which you can use to play Last.fm radio stations, scrobble your own music you listen to with your media player on your computer, and to edit your profile by tagging your music, loving and banning tracks, adding items to your playlist, and more.
